Balboa Park
Balboa Park San Diego, at 1,800 acres, is one of the largest urban cultural parks in the United States. The park was conceived in 1910 and developed as a municipal playground by President Theodore Roosevelt.
Today it is bordered on three sides by Balboa Park Way (north), Park Boulevard (south), and Sixth Avenue (east). It sprawls upstream along those streets and includes museums, gardens, attractions, two world-class zoos, a planetarium, and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Point Loma
Of the many places to visit in San Diego, Point Loma truly takes it home. A few miles west of San Diego’s bustling downtown area, Point Loma is a rugged peninsula that has long been a comfortable base for locals. USS Midway Museum
Located at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado and berthed on the West Side of the peninsula, the USS Midway is San Diego’s favorite attraction. This ship has been lovingly restored and transformed into a museum filled with stories from its illustrious past and filled with interactive exhibits geared toward educating younger generations about naval aviation. Cabrillo National Monument
Located at the Point Loma Peninsula in San Diego, California, United States, Cabrillo National Monument honors Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo’s landing at San Diego Bay on 28th September 1542. The park encompasses 4.6 square miles (12 square kilometers) of moors, cliffs, gardens, shoreline, tidal pools, and a historical fort. More than 20 miles (32 kilometers) of trails and roads allow visitors to explore the park. Many visitors also come to fish along the cliffs and see the ocean.

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is set in the middle of the city but feels like a trip back in time, and it makes sense. The National Register of Historic Places describes old Town San Diego State Historical Park as “the area in San Diego that was first settled in 1769 by Spanish colonists”.
The Park’s history begins with early Native American settlement and the establishment of Mission San Diego de Alcala in 1769. The adobe structures that comprise the park today were built or occupied during the Mexican and American periods.
After the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848, Old Town became part of the United States, military forces from Fort Yuma, Camp Bowie (later Fort Rosecrans), and a frontier outpost camped at nearby Warner’s Ranch.

Del Mar Race Track
If you are wondering what to do in San Diego, this is it. Located in San Diego’s picturesque seaside community of Del Mar, CA, the Del Mar Race Track has been a prominent part of various events through the years that have passed. It is most popularly known for the major horse races it hosts.
The racing season begins in early July and stretches until late September. Horse racing events at Del Mar are held three days a week, generally on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays during the summer. Petco Park

Belmont Park

Torrey Pines State Reserve
Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is one of the last remaining pristine areas in Southern California. The reserve encloses located near La Jolla bears 8 square miles of land and holds more than 2,000 acres of natural landscape with ocean views that remind visitors of Big Sur and Point Reyes.

Birch Aquarium
Birch Aquarium in San Diego is a place of wonder, discovery, and exploration. It is a thriving center for ocean conservation, research, and education. Sunset Cliffs
Sunset Cliffs is a spectacular section of San Diego’s Point Lomia neighborhood. Home to one of the best places to surf in Southern California, this area is also famous for its breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful sunsets.

San Diego’s Barrio Logan neighborhood is a maze of industrial streets, warehouses, and artist lofts, with apartment homes and taco stands interspersed among them. The area has been a focal point for the Chicano community since the 1970s, when the residents fought to preserve it as an industrial space while constructing their own art, murals, and symbols of activism.

Maritime Museum of San Diego
The Maritime Museum of San Diego is one of the best places to go in San Diego. That is because it is a fascinating place full of wonder and amazement. This place was designed to introduce the maritime mariners to the world and all the things they have the chance to experience when out in the ocean – the things they do to survive, the boats they integrally study about, and the life of hardship they tend to live.
To do this, the Maritime Museum sits on a pier on Harbor Drive, just off of North Harbor Drive and across the street from the USS Midway Museum. It offers a variety of maritime exhibits. The museum’s centerpiece is an 1863 ironbark, which is moored alongside the Maritime Museum pier. You will also see other interesting boats at the museum, such as a historic tugboat, outboard motorboat, yacht, and schooner. A favorite of kids will be going on board several historic vessels that are open for exploration.

Whaley House Museum
Whaley House Museum is a historic house in Old Town San Diego, California. It was built in 1856 for Thomas Whaley, who made his money in trade with the American West at the time of the California Gold Rush. The two-story adobe structure, once described as “the finest example of Spanish Colonial Revival style residential architecture in San Diego,” was donated to the city by the Whaley family and is now operated as a museum.

Pacific Surfliner
The Pacific Surfliner is an Amtrak train operating along the Southern California coast between San Diego and San Luis Obispo. It is a passenger train that runs along the coast of Southern California, from San Diego to San Luis Obispo.
It runs once daily, departing from either San Diego or Los Angeles in the morning and arriving at the other end in the early evening. Its southern terminus is at 6th Avenue in downtown San Diego, while it ends its trip to the north at 4th & A St. in Oxnard, California.

The Old Globe
The Old Globe is a nationally acclaimed theatre company in San Diego. The Globe has been in downtown San Diego for over 46 years and features six artistic groups. San Diego’s Old Globe is a third-year resident theater with a long history.
Located in Balboa Park, its shows range from Shakespeare and classic musicals to first-run new plays. The company launched in 1937 on a stately stage designed by William Templeton Johnson, the Old Globe’s artistic director from 1936 to 1941. It was the only major theater west of the Mississippi that still relied on live animals for animal scenes.
Now, The Old Globe proudly stands as San Diego’s oldest active theater and one of the largest in the nation with over 400,000 annual visitors. Its large cast, orchestra, and audience ensembles serve for more than 80 productions each year at two indoor theaters and one outdoor amphitheater at Balboa Park.
