Buy a souvenir at Gastown
Gastown has a rich cultural history. The town came into being in 1867. That was when a man named John Deighton appeared on the scene. He had a habit of narrating long stories and soon received the name “Gassy Jack”. As a result, the area became known as ‘Gassy’s Town’ or ‘Gastown’.
In the years that have followed, Gastown has earned a repute for itself. John Deighton’s statue now proudly looks over the neighborhood in Maple Tree Square. Capilano Suspension Bridge
