Winchester Mystery House 

Winchester Mystery House is an intriguing mansion in San Jose, CA. Great America

Municipal Rose Garden 

On a hot summer’s day, strolling through the Municipal Rose Garden in Silicon Valley feels like an oasis in the city.  Deemed as “America’s Best Rose Garden”, here you will encounter a staggering variety 0f 189 varieties of roses. Nearly 400 roses fill 12,000 square feet of Rose Garden’s green space inside the circular stone walls and double iron gates. Alum Rock Park

A hidden gem located at Senter Road, Alum Rock Park is a small but beautiful green space surrounded by buildings, roads, and plenty of hiking trails. Guadalupe River Park and Gardens 

Guadalupe River Park and Gardens is a 346-acre estate that stretches several miles along the Guadalupe River from Kelley Park in San Jose south to Alviso. Los Gatos Creek Trail

The Los Gatos Creek Trail is a 4.1-mile-long paved path connecting San Jose and Campbell in Santa Clara County. The trail extends from the north end of the Los Gatos Creek pedestrian bridge eastward to Winchester Avenue in Campbell just west of Interstate 280. There are many things to do while visiting the trail. You can go hiking with your friends and family and enjoy nature. You could even walk or bike from Los Gatos, Capitola, or Watsonville if you wanted to go the whole 9 yards! Just off the southern stretch of State Route 85 in San Jose is one of the county’s most scenic spots, the Almaden Quicksilver County Park. The Park, a former mining site, now offers visitors beautiful scenic views of rolling hills and ponds featuring endangered species of flora and fauna. Almaden Quicksilver County Park is one of the popular San Jose attractions for nature enthusiasts.  If you like waterfalls and beautiful trails, then you must go here. Kelley Park 

Located in the hills south of Downtown San Jose, Kelley Park is a gorgeous place to hike and spend the day with friends and family. It’s one of the largest parks of the Silicon Valley along the Coyote Creek. The park has innumerable trails that wind through shady groves, tall grasses, rocky hills, and Disc Golf. With 172 acres of vast landscape, Kelley Park offers a place for hosting special events such as weddings. Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph 

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph is a must-visit. This beautiful church is located in downtown San Jose and was built using a French design. It is considered the oldest parish church between both coasts, established in 1777. Shoreline Lake Park

The San Jose Flea Market is one of the most popular and largest flea markets in California. Overfelt Gardens Park is located in the Almaden Valley area of Silicon Valley. Museum of Quilts & Textiles 

With a mission to promote the appreciation of the American art of fabrics, the Museum of Quilts & Textiles is a destination that you don’t want to miss if you are in San Jose. The destination is home to more than 8,000 fabrics. Among its collection are remarkable works of art bequeathed by generous donors, such as the Latin American fabrics collected by architect Eric Mendelsohn.

Mission Santa Clara de Asís

Lick Observatory

Lick Observatory is the San Francisco Bay Area’s best kept secret and a must visit for locals and tourists alike. No trip to San Jose, CA is complete without making a stop at the Lick Observatory. The Lick Observatory, atop Mt. Hamilton, is located about an hour and a half east of San Francisco. Lick Observatory provides a wonderful opportunity for the public to learn more about astronomy and take some spectacular photographs. 

At 966 feet elevation, this observatory features one of the largest telescopes in North America. The views from the summit are spectacular, including views of Diablo Range to the east and Mt. Hamilton to the west. The observatory is especially known for its astrophotography and astrometry programs, not only for adults but also for students.

Ed R. Levin County Park 

Ed R. Levin County Park is a large estate that extends from the north side of Waverly Avenue south to the Alameda Creek Trail at Coyote Creek. It encompasses a wide variety of terrain and vegetation making it feel like several parks in one environment. The estate has several trails that are just short hikes, but the loop trail lets you see most of what the estate has to offer with moderate difficulty. 

There are dirt jumps, single track trails, and even a pump track for you to try out your skills on your free day. The garden is mostly shaded and makes for good riding on those hot days where all you want to do is enjoy some fresh air and a little exercise. Fun fact: Before European settlers moved into the area, this land served as hunting grounds for the local Miwok people.

 J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines 

There are many good places to visit in San Jose, but a visit to J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines is the only chance you’ll have to enjoy a small winery in the heart of Silicon Valley. Founded in 1984, J. Lohr is one of the largest family owned and operated wineries in California and yet it is still relatively small. They have an outstanding selection of wines, especially the “reserve” wines. Triton Museum of Art 

Visiting the Triton Museum of Art is a must in San Jose, California. Located within walking distance of SAP Center and Downtown Silicon Valley, it’s easily accessible from anywhere in the city and offers free admission to the public daily. This museum is built around the historic Nourse monument which is a ​​registered National Historic Landmark.

The museum area features three floors of galleries and an outdoor sculpture garden. The Triton Museum of Art in downtown Silicon Valley is known for its impressive collection of Japanese ukiyo e/woodblock prints and its research center which is the focal point of the destination. One of its main permanent exhibits is called ‘Islamic Treasures,’ featuring intricate work from 12th century Persian and Mughal artists.’

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge 

Located in Fremont, just past Sunol Regional Wilderness and Donner Creek is the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Covering almost 30,000 acres (120 km2), the bay is an expansive body of water teeming with marshland flora and fauna.

You will be amazed to explore since this bay itself consists of marshes, salt flats, and mudflats that support millions of shorebirds, raptors, waterfowl, fish, invertebrates, and mammals. You can opt for kayaking, hiking, and easy canoeing for experiencing the biodiversity.
