Ringing Rocks

One of the most interesting Montana things to do is visit the Ringing Rocks located just outside Butte. When tapped with a mallet or other such small musical instrument, these rocks chime melodiously. Don’t believe us? Check this place out for yourself!

Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument

Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument is a historic site that has been built in memory of the clash between the US Army and Sioux and Cheyenne Indians that shook the state in 1876. Over a thousand people lost their lives in the battle, and the memorial is a small step towards reconciliation.

World Museum of Mining

Located in Butte, this place has anything, and everything related to mining. The tours are extensive and detailed and take you 100 feet underground to see the original shaft station at their most popular silver and zinc mine, named The Orphan Girl. This mine has about 50 buildings and is spread over 22 acres of land. Opened in 1965, this site also takes you through the tools used for mining in the past when Butte was a flourishing mining town.

National Bison Range

The National Bison Range is a center for wildlife conservation for American bison and a natural reserve located in western Montana. It is also called just Bison Range, and the size of the herd found here is upwards of 300-500 bison!

It is spread across an area of 18,800 acres (76 square kilometers) and is situated within the foothill’s grasslands and the Montana Valley. If you want to witness the power of these majestic beasts in all their natural glory and want to spend time surrounded by wildlife, make sure that you add this place to your itinerary!

Moss Mansion Museum

Built-in 1903 and designed by famous New York architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, the Moss Mansion Museum is a historic place. It celebrates the entrepreneurial achievements of Preston Boyd (P.B.) Moss and the ongoing legacy carried by his family.

It is one of the most popular Montana attractions, and visiting this site gives you a picture of his life’s story and allows you to experience the affluence and influence the home holds. You can make reservations for self-guided tours and stay updated with the calendar on their website to catch the interesting and informational events conducted at the Moss Mansion Museum.
