Hanging Lake

Hanging Lake is not only one of the most popular tourist spots in the state but also one of the most beautiful. This natural attraction is nestled in Glenwood Springs and is the perfect example of what this beautiful place has to offer — trails, hikes, and natural reservations.

Pushing into the southern Gore Range, encompassed by multi-hued mountains and a valley framed by craggy cliffs, Hanging Lake sits quietly at the base of Mount Antero, whose northern ridge pokes up toward its pinnacles.

As a result of natural geological forces deep within the Earth’s subsurface, sheer rock walls were created and faulting and uplifting brought about the current mountainous landscape.
